The goal for this series is just to get an Ampere Virtual Machine up and running using Terraform on Microsoft’s Azure, Oracle Cloud (OCI), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The steps for each one are different, but the nice thing about Terraform is that once you get it running, you do it over and over again with just one command.

Most of the “getting started” tutorials I have followed, assume that I know as much about the topic as the author. They might skip a step or leave out a detail causing me to get confused or frustrated because I am already nervous about trying something new. Only once I get it up and running can I relax and start to understand what happened. I am now ready to start exploring; “What does this do?” “What if I change this or add that?” Therefore, the goal of this tutorial is to give you a good first taste of using Terraform to create and then destroy your Ampere VM. Soon, we will continue this tutorial by adding in more complex features of Terraform.
